Turquoise Entrance Door
SERIES ÉTUDES AND VARIATIONS · EV02 · 2025
Watercolour on 100% cotton paper · 30 × 30 cm
This work observes a domestic entrance door in its most direct frontal presence. The turquoise introduces vivid chromatic clarity, yet the composition remains balanced by the surrounding pale stone.
The structure is centered and geometric: rectangular frame, implied symmetry, flat surface. Watercolor softness prevents rigidity, allowing subtle tonal shifts and paper texture to remain visible.
The door becomes a symbol of intimate threshold — not monumental, but everyday. It suggests private space without revealing it.
Within “Études and Variations,” this piece deepens the exploration of the domestic entrance as a space of transition between exterior and interior, public and private realms.
